Daly Waters 24/8/2010

Daly Waters is Interesting. The Daly Waters pub. Inside you find decorations of all kind. There is a bar  happy hour- play heads or tails. 50% chance of free drinks. more souveniers The caravan park is full at night! and there is the traffic light! you have to stop here! Daly Waters International Airport has seen passenger and military operations. The Hangar and some buildings are still standing. This was a fuelstop for overseas flights.

Banka Banka Station is an Oasis. No power but as much good water as you can use. we wash the van the truck and refill the watertanks.

Wycliffe Roadhouse UFO Capital  My relatives just dropped in for a visit. Well it is that good, we came back to the Devils marbles.  they do stand out The long road the Stuart Highway.

The statues at Aileron larger than life woman with child. Historical Telegraph station at Barrow Creek  complete with all outbuildings well maintained.

Off the highway is Gemtree as the name suggests it is a gem rich area. the dam at the entrance Plenty of space between vans. we go and make our fortune in garnets. we have no clue, but we soon learn. hurray there is one! On the way out. the road back to the highway

Simpsons Gap A break in the range. a small pool fills the gap. looking back The colours in the rock. Stanley Chasm the next break in the range is Stanley Chasm. vertical cliffs either side big boulders block the end. Parking with a caravan can be tight in the busy season. We have been lucky, no buses. On the road to Glenn Helen Like man made dry walls the rocks stand up either side of the road we travel in line with the range layers. Glenn Helen Glenn helen gorge near the end of the range.
